Seychelles has been elected to the Executive Council of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) for the 2025–2029 term, following a vote held during the 68th CAF meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, from 11–13 June. Represented by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde and Principal Secretary for Tourism Sherin Francis, Seychelles joins Angola, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya on the council, which guides global tourism policy between sessions of the General Assembly.

This marks Seychelles’ fourth term on the Executive Council and reflects its ongoing leadership in sustainable tourism and regional cooperation. Membership offers the island nation an opportunity to influence policy on behalf of small island developing states while promoting inclusive growth and environmental preservation. Seychelles also received broad support for a bid to host the 69th CAF meeting in 2026, further cementing its active role in shaping Africa’s tourism development agenda.
