Morocco records tourism boom as strategic vision powers growth toward 2030 goal

Morocco’s tourism sector is on an impressive upward trajectory, with the country welcoming a record-breaking 17.4 million tourists in 2024 and registering double-digit growth in 2025. The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) reported these figures during its Board of Directors meeting held on June 24 under the chairmanship of Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.

According to the MNTO, international tourist arrivals surged by 22% and overnight stays increased by 17% as of May 2025. This growth is credited to a robust marketing strategy, increased digital visibility, and a significant boost in air connectivity through the “Air x2” strategy.

Looking ahead, Morocco is targeting 13 million airline seats for 2025 and is actively negotiating long-haul flight agreements for the 2026–2030 period. These efforts are expected to be bolstered by partnerships with major international airlines and the introduction of new direct routes.

Morocco’s tourism brand is also gaining significant global traction. The country is now ranked among the world’s Top 10 most mentioned destinations by international travellers — a testament to its sustained marketing campaigns, diverse tourism offerings, and the use of immersive, locally created content to attract global audiences.

The MNTO says with a clear vision and bold execution, Morocco is moving steadily toward its 2030 goal of attracting 26 million tourists.
