Kenya’s KATA CEO Appointed to National Tourism Regulator Board

Nicanor Sabula, CEO of the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Kenya’s Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) for a three-year term effective 30 May 2025. Announced by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, the appointment is part of wider leadership changes aimed at aligning public agencies with national development goals.

With over 20 years of experience in the travel industry, Sabula brings a strategic voice to the TRA, which oversees regulation and compliance in Kenya’s tourism sector. His appointment is expected to strengthen collaboration between government and industry players, particularly in policy development, standards, and stakeholder engagement. He joins fellow appointee Fred Kaigua on the board.
