Kazungula, a crucial border town at the intersection of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia, has launched a €12 million water supply project aimed at driving economic growth and sustainable development. The project, funded through the SADC Water Fund in collaboration with Germany’s KFW and the Development Bank of Southern Africa, will provide clean water to over 20,000 residents and support the high transit population across this strategic Southern African corridor.

Local authorities see the new facility as a foundation for attracting tourism investment, particularly around the Zambezi River, Chobe National Park, and Victoria Falls. The improved water infrastructure paves the way for eco-lodges, hotels, and agro-tourism developments, while enabling large-scale irrigation and agro-processing. With strong government backing and regional support, Kazungula aims to position itself as a competitive hub for integrated tourism and infrastructure development.
