Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have launched a strategic codeshare partnership, enhancing air links between Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. As part of the agreement, Ethiopian will introduce flights between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi from 15 July, while Etihad begins daily services to Addis Ababa from 8 October. The collaboration allows travellers to book seamless itineraries with single check-in and baggage transfer across both carriers’ networks.
This move marks the first phase of a broader joint venture agreed in March 2025, which aims to deepen cooperation and expand travel options across both airlines’ routes. The agreement gives Etihad passengers access to over 55 destinations across 33 African countries via Addis Ababa, while Ethiopian travellers gain improved connectivity to 20 destinations in Asia, the Middle East, and Australia through Abu Dhabi. The deal is expected to support regional tourism growth and enhance trade through stronger transport links.
