Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated a new passenger service connecting Addis Ababa with Porto, Portugal, further enhancing its Africa-Europe network. The service, which launched on 2 July 2025, will operate four times weekly via Madrid using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The route expands the airline’s growing international footprint and supports increased trade and tourism ties between the two regions.
Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers strong potential for both business and leisure travel. The new route underscores Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to global connectivity, following its recent recognition as Skytrax’s ‘Best Airline in Africa’ for the eighth consecutive year. This expansion also supports wider efforts to improve intercontinental access through efficient, high-capacity aviation links from Africa.
