Botswana to Host AviaDev Africa 2026

Botswana has been confirmed as the host country for AviaDev Africa 2026, a key aviation forum aimed at enhancing air connectivity within and beyond the continent. The announcement was made during the closing session of the 2025 edition held in Zanzibar. Backed by a multi-agency bid involving Botswana’s Civil Aviation Authority, national tourism and investment bodies, and private sector stakeholders, the country secured the opportunity following a formal bidding and site inspection process.

AviaDev Africa, which brings together airlines, airports, tourism authorities, and investors, serves as a strategic platform for route development and regional integration. Botswana’s selection aligns with its broader economic diversification agenda. According to Civil Aviation Authority CEO Dr Bao Mosinyi, improved connectivity could translate into growth in GDP and tourism arrivals. Preparations are already underway, including infrastructure improvements and discussions around visa facilitation, as Botswana positions itself to attract more regional traffic and international carriers ahead of the 2026 event.
