Qatar Airways and Kenya Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at expanding air connectivity between East Africa and the Middle East. The agreement includes a codeshare arrangement that will see Qatar Airways launching a third daily flight between Doha and Nairobi, and Kenya Airways operating direct flights between Mombasa and Doha—marketed by Qatar Airways—starting from the winter season. Passengers will benefit from enhanced connectivity across both carriers’ networks via the Doha and Nairobi hubs.
Beyond passenger services, the collaboration will explore joint opportunities across cargo operations, loyalty programmes, maintenance, and procurement. The agreement builds on Qatar Airways’ long-standing presence in Kenya, marking 20 years of service to the country, and aligns with Kenya Airways’ ongoing business recovery strategy. The move is expected to support tourism and trade growth across East Africa and reinforces Africa’s importance in the global aviation network.
